A different kind of nutritional therapy

Compassionate. Weight-Inclusive. Grounded in evidence + empathy.

I believe every body is worthy of care, respect and nourishment

My Story

Hi, I’m Deb – a  Certified Practicing Nutritionist (CPN) and Paediatric Nutritionist who likes to do things a little differently.

I’m a nutrition nerd with a soft spot for punk rock, all things spicy, and comfortable clothes – most days you’ll find me in jeans, a tee, and my trusty Converse.

I grew up in a home where food was celebrated, not restricted. Dieting wasn’t a thing, and some of my happiest memories are of sharing food with family. As a teen, I loved sport and ate freely, without thinking much about body size or shape.

Things changed after I had my first child and was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. As my weight crept up, I was swept into the world of diets and “quick fixes”. Each attempt left me feeling more disconnected from my body and less confident in myself.

My nutrition journey began after losing two close friends far too young – I wanted to understand health on a deeper level and help others live long, meaningful lives. But the more I studied, the more rigid my own food rules became. I realised that even with all the nutrition knowledge in the world, strict diets and food rules don’t heal our relationship with food.

This realisation led me to explore Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size® (HAES®) – approaches that completely changed how I view nutrition, health, and self-care.

Today, through Lotus Health + Nutrition, I support adults, children and families with compassionate, non-diet, weight-inclusive care. My work focuses on self-compassion, body acceptance, and building a positive, peaceful relationship with food – because health is about so much more than numbers on a scale.

I’m especially passionate about helping children and young people develop healthy body image and confidence, supporting individuals recovering from disordered eating, and empowering families to break free from diet culture together.

Beyond Nutrition

When I’m not supporting clients, you’ll often find me in the kitchen baking for my side venture – Rebel Cakes & Cookies.

It’s my creative outlet and a way to celebrate the joy that food can bring. From cakes and cupcakes to hand-decorated cookies, I love creating treats that bring people together and spark happiness.

For me, it’s another expression of what I believe at my core – that food is meant to be enjoyed, shared and savoured without guilt 🌸

Why "Lotus"?

The lotus flower rises and blooms from muddy waters – a symbol of resilience, renewal and growth.

For me, it represents the journey so many of us take with food and body image – learning to rise above the noise of diet culture and reconnect with trust, balance and self-compassion.

At Lotus Health + Nutrition, my mission is to support you as you heal your relationship with food, nurture your body, and flourish in your own unique way – just like the lotus, blooming beautifully in its own time.

If you’re ready to break free from diets, support your child’s relationship with food, or simply explore a gentler approach to health - you’re in the right place.
